Summary:

Given everything, it's not that surprising that Faith can so simply divide her life into two halves. After all, she’s been so many things over the past two decades: orphan, Slayer, murderer, convict, just to name a few. The sorts of things that ought to change a life. It makes sense that dividing her existence into before and after moments would be easy.

What’s complete fucking insanity is that the dividing point is none of those things.

One random night in the fall of ‘98. A tiny nowhereville town in California. An alleyway outside the Bronze.

“You’re Buffy, right? I’m Faith.”

The moment that changed her entire fucking life.

Summary:

At twelve years old, Faith thinks she’s a little too old (and a lot too cool) to keep hanging out in an arcade. Sure, it’s nice to have somewhere indoors to go when it’s raining outside (somewhere that isn’t her own home) but the arcade is getting boring. That is, until Faith finds someone in the arcade who is the most interesting, least boring person she’s ever met. Maybe hanging out in an arcade isn’t so bad after all. Not if Buffy’s here.

Summary:

“You’re too damn tightly wound,” Faith declares. “You need to get laid.”

Buffy rolls her eyes. By this point she’s become inured to Faith’s constant innuendos, but this is blunter than she’d expected even from her. “I’m pretty sure that’s not the answer.”

(In which Buffy and Faith fool themselves into thinking they can do "no strings attached".)
